Tammy Tibbetts is a feminist leader, philanthropist, and nonprofit executive whose career has focused on resourcing girls’ power through education, leadership, and systems change. She is the co-founder of She’s the First and the author of Impact: A Step-by-Step Plan to Create the World You Want to Live In (Hachette).
As CEO for 15 years, Tammy built She’s the First into a global organization that impacts nearly one million girls worldwide — by investing in women-led grassroots organizations and shifting power within philanthropy. In 2025, she led She’s the First through a merger with Girl Rising, which challenged nonprofit norms and modeled collaboration over competition. During the 2026 transition year, she serves as Chief Advisor at Girl Rising, shaping mission, strategy, and culture within the integrated organization.
In 2027, Tammy will pursue strategic grantmaking and philanthropic advising, helping funders drive systemic change and amplify the impact of women- and girl-focused initiatives.
A sought-after speaker and advisor, Tammy is known for her collaborative, values-driven approach to leadership, change management, and philanthropic strategy. Before her nonprofit career, she was the first-ever social media editor of Seventeen magazine and led innovative girl-centered projects for Hearst Digital Media.
Tammy is a DVF People’s Voice Award winner, a three-time TEDx speaker, an International Women’s Forum Fellow, and a first-generation college graduate who later became a Trustee of her alma mater, The College of New Jersey.
When she’s not in Brooklyn with her husband, son, and mini poodle, her favorite place to be is Edinburgh, Scotland.
